Hello, my name is M. River, one half of the net.art collaboration known as MTAA.

I’d like to sort of set the ground rules for what we (MTAA, Star 67, and you (the Viewer)) are going to do at the 3mb annex.

Let’s start with the Architecture. The 3mb annex is a Yahoo mail account. One may sign up with Yahoo.com for a free email account (with 3 megabytes of storage)...in exchange for getting some personal info from you, showing you ads, and putting the name Yahoo on all your email. Yahoo, is one of many companies that do this sort of thing. They were selected for this project because...well, no real reason...just that Yahoo is common. I’ve always wondered if Warhol picked Campbell's soup for this reason or if something else was in play (if you have any answer to this, please email the 3mb annex under the subject heading SOUP)

Anyway, we are going to be filling up this account with email (text and graphics). Each email may be thought of as public corporate art. The guiding themes of this work will include architecture, art, commercial art, Brooklyn, love, sex, personal revolution, banality, media, construction of celebrity....well just to make it easy...think Warhol in cyberspace.
