  3. also, if we just look at the jpeg today , we can see who is still game and who is about to fade.

  4. Or, and this is just a crazy idea…Watch the actual video and see who’s still got the energy (not to mention humor) going on.

Mriver looks like he’s about to pass out thru that entire demolition of Sweet Dreams. Me? I happily dance around and make jokes.

You know I can drink you under the table dude. You simply getting desperate now.

  5. Am I under the mistaken impression that this is a SINGING deathmatch, not a DRINKING deathmatch?

  7. 5 points for crushing the beer can.
5 points for looking so prim in twhid’s jpeg.
5 points because i’m pretty sure twhid was falling asleep in the back during your performance. i was half expecting him to topple off that stool.

    round goes to master river.

  9. total bullshit!

we’re supposed to be voting on the performance. of which mine was inarguably more entertaining.

you just fell for mriver’s diversion tactics where he wants you to vote for anything other than his performance since he sucks and I rock.

    congrats. sucker.

  10. Some random thoughts at the half way point of the KDM100

The work begins two years ago. We set up the Kareoke machine and projector in our studio. André, Bill, and George set up lights, checked the sound, gaffed the floor, and set the camera. Somehow we all fit everything into our small studio with some spill out into the hall. Our studio is dark and with out windows so the air was stuffy and the temperature started to rise.

I had done one or two Karaoke songs before but that was about it. I knew my singing voice was bad and I was also worried about reading off the monitor. I’m dyslexic and reading text out loud has always been a problem for me. I was a bit worried about freezing up during the performance.

Tim seemed to be to be in a good mood. For weeks he told everyone that he was going to crush me. He’s good at entertaining and funny and I know he could not drink me. He can not sing but he is still better at it than I am. He also cared about “wining” and I was not sure if I did. So, I needed a strategy.

    Tortoise and the Hare

I guessed that it would take about 8 to 9 hours to do the whole performance and that I could basically outlast Tim. I figured Tim would pick a few metal and rock hits early, drink to much and that would be it. Spread out my favorite songs and saved some of the better picks for later rounds. I drank lots of beer but also got some water and a few red bulls for caffeine (or whatever evil stuff they put in that hellish drink). On advice from Helen, I pick up some spray to numb my vocal cords once they got raw (in a non-competitive moment I ended up sharing this with tip with Tim). I picked out and black t-shirt, a black button down and a hoodie for visual variety. I tried to remind myself to move around the stage a bit, change song delivery, scream some, keep going if I fucked up the words and basically just perform.

The votes seem to be fairly even in the first half of the KDM100. I think my performances improved in the second half. I still have a few dogs but overall I get over the awkward beginnings and warm up to the act. I still have a feeling that I’ll lose the vote count, but in the end, I don’t care.

The performances work out. They are strange, ugly and sometimes funny. It’s an art project but people sometimes think it’s something else. I sometimes find myself thinking it’s about something else. The KDM100 blurs behaviors a bit and that is my interest.

25 rounds down 25 to go. Vote M.River

In addition… can you blame me for falling asleep during mriver’s so-called performance?

I just watched it and dozed off for a minute and I’ve had 4 cups of coffee! He does karaoke like he’s on a heroin nod. I would promote his performance for people that prefer non-narcotic sleep aids.

  12. Yes, although I’ve been stuck in school, I came back and saw this gem. Sorry Tim, but you went down on this boozy number.

    better ask
why the fact that it should be art suits you?

Thanks. Why is it art or why is it art that suits us? Hard questions I will think about it. Thanks for your music on 2bl2.
